Nvidia vs. Microsofts November 2009 Updates

Nov 23, 2009

We are a little late out the door posting these updates. They've created some problems with some workstations I have to manage.

Initially I updated the computers and there were no problems, but later that evening found out that remote desktop was freezing 2 of the 5 computers there. Usually any problems with remote desktop and windows update points to video card driver issues which are in most cases solved by updating the video card drivers. That did not work this time, in fact it started a BSOD and infinite reboot routine. Fail. v191.07.

While I could still reboot into safe mode, no installation of the geforce drivers 191.07 would work. I instead went to windows update without the video card drivers installed and updated the drivers to the version recommended by Microsoft. Whabam. Problem solved.

I'd try installing your drivers from MS if you are finding that the drivers from nvidia aren't cutting it for some reason. Especially on business machines.

UPDATE: Microsoft has published a hotfix for 'drawing' problems associated with the latest updates. Download it here.
